Murdock Elementary School is an outstanding school quietly nestled in the hills of La Mesa. This California School of Excellence is the recipient of many awards including Distinguished School, National Blue Ribbon, and the Golden Bell.

The Murdock school spirit song is sung to the tune of "On Wisconsin". The lyrics were written by Dr. Mark Arapostathis when he was a teacher at Murdock. Students sing the song at the monthly spirit assemblies.
